Data, Sound and Culture

For my finals, I wanted to work on something that involved sound, data and NYC!

New York City has at least 250 neighborhoods. I am in the process of choosing which data would be interesting but the idea would be to capture the footprint of 8 million new yorkers through sound. Possible topics:

  • Rent costs
  • Demographics and Diversity
  • Education
  • Unemployment

The main premise of the project would be to generate art from data, and use sound and buttons as it detects change in data. I’m really excited to see how this plays out as it would be interesting to see patterns coming out of the data and will then translate into sound patterns.
