Ideas are a dime a dozen when you begin observing people.
While on the subway, I thought about a few behaviors that can be helped with nudges or social switches.
- Getting people to walk faster
- Finding each other
- Sending cues to people to not talk to you
- Sending cues to people that they can talk to you
Those were great, I thought. But what appealed to me was during my time at the cafe. I’ve notice strangely some similar patterns that people do at a cafe, most people are occupied and multitasking, even though they sit with somebody.
- 2 people only chatting over coffee, no devices out.
- woman get entertained by using a media device
- lovers read books and drink coffee intermittently
- families take a break from hot weather post stroll in the city
- girlfriends look at their phones and with cool drinks on hand
From my observation, I was thinking of a way to nudge people to interact.
The put me down coaster will be annoyingly vibrating until you put either your cup or phone down.
